WHY DO MY IMAGES NEED TO BE 300DPI AND THE CORRECT DIMENSIONS FOR PRINT?
Unlike many other directories, we at THIS IS MY POSTCODE™ care about how your advert looks after print.
We wouldn't feel that we would be doing our job should an advert of yours not shine on our page. As far as design goes we can't change what you give us but what we can do is make sure that your advert isn't pixelated. This is a term used when an image shows individual pixels that are apparent to the naked eye.
Typically, the separate square pixels in bitmapped images such as GIFs do not appear individually. In brief, when the image is displayed too large or at a low resolution the image becomes pixelated. An example of this is below.

Notice that the pixelated advert has jagged little squares all over. These are stretched pixels. The advert on the right is smooth as it is the right size.
The important things to look for are the PRINT SIZES or DOCUMENT SIZES (In cm) and the RESOLUTION DPI (Dots per inch...should be 300).
MY IMAGE LOOKS FINE ON SCREEN?
Basically, for top quality print, the image will need to be 330DPI. This can usually be found via any picture editing software under the properties. On the screen the image will look the right size but chances are it will be too small.
An example would be that, if you wanted to print a 10cm by 10cm image, at 300dpi, on screen this would be roughly 36cm by 36cm (at 100%).
If all this seems too complicated to you, dont worry. We look at all the images that are sent in and make sure that they are print ready.
